Retired Reverend's Ramblings - April 2016

At the beginning of March I was invited to speak to the Christian Fellowship which meets every Wednesday lunch-time at the Ford Motor Company Technical Centre at Dunton in Essex. There are firm security measures in place at this engine research centre. As a visitor you must have been invited beforehand, you have to enter your name and the name of the organisation you are with into a computer at the reception. A photograph is taken for a visitor’s security pass which is handed in on leaving when a security code is given so you can actually get out of the car park where your car has already been locked in. All visitors have to be escorted around the building by the person who gave the invitation in the first place. I guess this security is because Ford don’t want other car manufacturers to know anything about the engines they are developing for future years.

Easter has reminded us of an even greater security for your life and my life. We have in Jesus the one who through his death on the cross and his triumphant resurrection has given us the certain hope of a place in heaven. A place that is available to all who come to him in repentance and faith. The security we have through faith in Jesus, in the truth of what he has done for us is not something to be hidden from others. It is a truth to be shared with all.

Peter openly proclaimed the truth of what Jesus has done for each one of us: “Praise be to the God and Father our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,” (1 Peter 1:3 NIV)

Jesus truly is the living Lord. He is the only Saviour for this world. Let’s not keep that truth securely to ourselves. Let’s tell everyone who Jesus is, our Lord and our Saviour.
