Welcome

Welcome to the website for the churches of Atlow, Bradley, Hognaston, Hulland and Kniveton. We are a group of five village churches whose aim is to love and serve God and our communities.
We hope you enjoy exploring this site and that you find what you are looking for. If you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Have you found an angel?

Congratulations!  You are now part of a story that began over 2,000 years ago.

Angels were the first ones to tell peple the Good News of Jesus, the Son of God being born.  Why is that Good News?

When God created the world he wanted humanity to know him and relate to him.  This hasn't always gone to plan! Throughout the centuries of human existence people have either not known about God, or had a wrong impression of who he is or refused to acknowledge his existence. So, rather than abandon us, he came to be one of us to reveal to us what he is really like.  God's Son, Jesus, was born.  He lived among us, spent time with people from all backgrounds but was eventually arrested and executed - even though he was innocent of any crime.

Christians belive that through his death and resurrection we can be forgiven for those things which put a barrier between us and God and we can know and experience the love that he has for us.  We can also begin to live in a new way which reflects many of God's qualities of love, joy, peace, patience and kindness.

The Good News that the angels proclaimed all those years ago is still good news for us today - which is why we wanted to put angels around our villages this year.

If you would like to know more about this Good News, please do get in touch with Rev Phil, or speak with any friends you may have who are Christians.

We pray for God's blessing to be on you this Christmas and may the joy that the shepherds had when they were told the Good News by the angels, be yours too as you think about God coming to visit!  You might like to join us at one of our Christmas services to celebrate with us!

Have a very happy Christmas!

PS - A HUGE THANK YOU to all those who knitted, tagged and distributed the angels.  Over 850 have been made and put around the villages.
